Such a beautiful gecko. I didn’t realise that they came this far south. Do your geckos make the kissing sound? I remember them on the walls of guesthouses in SE Asia making smooching calls to one another as they caught the bugs attracted by the lights at night.
Sitting up late at my computer doing some marking and I can hear an intermittent “t t t t t t t t t” noise. At first I thought it was my pc about to die but then I wondered “maybe we have a gecko living in the walls!”. Or maybe it’s just marking psychosis :/
When Hollis tried to poke it, our gecko made an alarming barkng sound, raised its’ body off the wall, and lurched forward. Hollis reacted in kind. Apparently, this is quite a common defensive reaction amongst geckos in Australia (and small childen). Anyone who is interested in reptiles and amphibians can look up: Harold G. Cogger’s ‘Reptiles and Amphibians of Australia’
