When I looked up from my chopping and stirring, the sky was orange, the downpour had turned into light mist and a full rainbow framed the trees across the road.

We saw it too. Hollis and I were getting ready to read ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ on the living room couch when we saw the strange orange light out the window. It was a beautiful light. Then Redmond pointed out the glorious rainbow. It was a double rainbow (apparently they all are, it’s to do with how the light refract through the back of the rain drops) – did you see the second arc?

One of my favourite reference books, simply called ‘Weather’, tells me that in this type of optical effects also include the fog bow and the moon bow; and on a plane when no horizon is in sight, a rainbow would appear as a full circle.
